It is weird that the jail time imposed was 1 year and 9 months when normally they get whole years, maybe it was a coincidence they decided to keep it under the 2 year limit.

The Sun certainly did not miss the opportunity

Funny how the rich and powerful can get away with anything.

Exactly
Alonso, with so much tax fraud allegedly, and nothing happens, but Messi, because he's from Catalonia is punished. Despicable Real supporting system

I heard that nobody goes to jail for this because of some kind of law in Spain about this type of crime or something. Something to do with first time offenders, so I don't think he got special treatment. From what I understand anyway.

Not to mention Wesley Snipes went to prison for tax evasion over here. So not always true. Martha Stewart is another. Mike Tyson as well.

FC Barcelona has set up a campaign in support of Leo Messi following the sentence issued this week against the Argentinian and his father.

Using the hashtag #WeAreAllLeoMessi while posting a photo or message with both hands open, the campaign is encouraging all Barça fans to express their sympathy for the greatest footballer in the world by voicing their unconditional support on social networks.

By making it clear that #WeAreAllMessi, we want Leo to know that he is not alone. All members, supporters clubs, fans, athletes, media and everyone else are invited to participate.

In Spain law certain sentences below 24 months for first time offenders can be served without an actual prison sentence. Messi got 21 months meaning he's lucky he doesn't have to worry when he drops the soap anytime soon.

Funny how he's conveniently been given less than 2 years lol

With Sepp, Platini all gone, Messi is the third hopefully to go and football can once again have a golden age.

Is this for real?

Pathetic from them if it is, they should be making him take responsibility rather than pretend 'it's all ok bcuz ur messi blud' :dontknow:

Express sympathy for theft? Not just petty theft as a result of poverty, but out of sheer greed by one of the wealthiest sportsmen in history.

Shameless and disgusting campaign by Barcelona.

A slap in the face for all the hard-working Spaniards who have lost (and continue) to lose their businesses and homes each day. A HUNDRED families each day to be precise.

Always had a strong aversion to the government/taxpayer-subsidised Real Madrid, but Barcelona are becoming just as bad.

Doesn't surprise me.

Barcelona are everything that is wrong with football and indeed the world today. Why not do this?

In fact would be disappointed if they hadn't.
