I am playing SoccerManager.com and one of the many teams I am Managing is Colarado Rapids. As we know the MLA team that Kronke own's.

Anyway, as a game build up it show's you a Google map of the distance between you and your next match.

Looking closely i discovered something near the Rapids ground:

I lived in Denver for 4 years and used to play in leagues out at Dick's Sporting Goods Park (The Rapid's Complex). What you're looking at is the Rockey Mountain Arsenal nature reserve. It was initially created in the 40's as a chemical weapons manufacturing facility. I hadn't really been used since the 80's and some animals seemed to relocate to the area, including the American Bald Eagle, which was endangered at the time. On discovering this it was moved to be cleaned up and turned into a wildlife reserve which officially occured in the late 90's.

Nice one mate thanks.

Do you think that was a reason Kronke wanted to buy us?
As i don't think may of us knew about that area being so close to the Rapids ground..

Could be, there may have been some marketing involved in it. However, Denver is a pretty arid climate and that area is relatively barren. It's also closed off so the public doesn't really have any access to it. Plus, it was a pretty contentious thing for quite some time in Denver, so it may not have the best connotations. It's likely that it's only a coincidence and Kronke brought shares in AFC because they have a history of making money. Regardless of that, they do have an Arsenal cannon at the Rapid's park that they fire off everytime they score, so that's always a nice reminder of the connection between the teams, especially for us US fans who have never been able to make it over and see a game.

Let's not forget that it was Keith Edelmen that set up the partnership deal between Arsenal and Colarado Rapids in 2007 (in order to raise the profile of Arsenal in the States) long before Kroenke bought a single share in our club. ;)

At the time it was reported that there was a possibilty of them changing their name to Colorado Arsenal as part of the deal but it never happened.
