Arsenal's starting line-up 2010/11

Postby Massa » Sun Sep 12, 2010 4:15 pm

Please do it properly so we can get a accurate result i.e. don't pick 11 midfielders.

They'll all get injured anyway, so just for fun innit:

Fabianski
Sagna Djourou Vermaelen Clichy
Fabregas Song Wilshere
Walcott van Persie Nasri

No van Persie Popey...?

This is actually harder than it looks because of our embarrassment of riches in the midfield.
If you include Rosicky who's currently on great form then you can't have Theo AND Arshavin so who do you drop?
If you include RVP then what about Chamakh and Arshavin?

The only way I can answer this question is to go on current form (excluding injuries obviously) which means this line-up:

Almunia
Sagna Squillaci Vermaelen Clichy
Song
Theo Cesc Rosicky
RVP Chamakh

Controversially I've dropped Arshavin because I believe that Rosicky is actually on better form even though Arsh is probably more likely to score. For me Tomas contributes more over the 90 minutes.

How about a 4-3-3 the way the Dutch made it famous (i.e. nothing like the 4-3-3 in this year's world cup)... One holder, two creative geniuses. Put Rosicky next to Cesc, and still keep both wide forwards.

I love Wilshere, wouldn't put him ahead of Walcott, Rosicky or Nasri though.

Probably depends on the game, but just for the sake of the thread:

Almunia
Sagna - Squillaci - Vermaelen - Clichy
Song - Denilson
Walcott ---- Fabregas ---- Arshavin
van Persie

My lineup

Mannone

Sagna - Squillaci - Vermaelen - Clichy

Song
Fabregas - Nasri

Walcott - Chamakh - Arshavin

Reason i chose Mannone is because i think he is the best keeper we have, and he is now proving that at International level as well.

No explanantion needed for defence.

I chose Nasri over Sicky purely because he was our best player in pre-season and feel he will be big for us this season.

RvP has been relegated to the bench, oh wait he won't even make the bench cause he is injured.

Mans a liability now, he should not even be starting when fit IMO, he should be focusing 100% on reconditioning his body if thats even possible, forget the twinkle toes shit, get down the Gym and beef up, in training he should be made to dribble at full speed while Diaby slide tackles him, if he manages to survive one hour of Diaby specials then he can start.

And no, i am not joking, he should not be in anyones lineups.
