Bendtner - I'm upset and annoyed by reports

Nicklas Bendtner has denied saying he should play “every minute of every game” for Arsenal no matter who is fit.

The quotes were attributed to the Danish striker on the morning of Monday’s cup tie with Cardiff. He brushed them off by scoring Arsenal’s second goal in a comprehensive 4-0 win but afterwards revealed he had been misinterpreted.

“I've never said anything like what they put in the newspapers,” he told the Arsenal magazine. “And it makes me upset because it comes across really bad.

“None of it was said like that. Basically I did a long interview for the Danish press recently, they asked me a lot of questions and the press over here have taken my answers and twisted them out of proportion.

“I was happy with the article in the Danish magazine and if you saw it you would realise that what was reported over here was not true.

“There is nothing you can do about it when they change what has been said and it's annoying because it makes people think 'what is he playing at?'

“If I feel the need to say something to my team-mates to explain it then I will do, but they know that I am right behind the team and wouldn't say things like that.”

I hope that this will demonstrate to some fans that a massive percentage of what the tabloids print is utter SHITE, and just because there are quotation marks around something it doesn't make it true.

Give your players the benefit of the doubt next time.

There are so many Arsenal fans who don't think that bendtner is good enough but that doesn't mean that they "hate" him. I don't rate him but I don't hate him either.

I was hoping that this thread would turn into a discussion about tabloid papers rather than Bendtner himself but nevermind.


As I said in the matchday thread:

What really f***ing irritated me though was the fact that those twunt Setanta commentators just took the Mirror story as complete gospel.
Soon as Bendtner missed that sitter one of them said "Well this is the man who came out in the papers today and said he should be starting every game - not with performances like that he won't!"

They didn't say "This is the player who 'allegedly' said or this is the player who 'was reported to have said' they just took it as gospel.

Lying helps them get their point across. Ho hum. I never really pay attention to commentators/pundits nowadays (never really did in the first place) I've never once heard a piece of useful information I never knew about, they always repeat the bloody obvious or the damn right idiotic.

I do listen to statisticians tho, at least they only say something when they have evidence to back it up.

yep, its a shame that having intelligence isn't a requirement to be a football commentator, you just need to be able to talk constantly, which they do very well to be fair. This kind of thing happens all the time in football, quotes taken out of context, mistranslation and plain just making it all up. If people choose to believe everything they read in the papers, on tv or from that guy on footballrumours.com who's dads mate runs a chip shop opposite the training ground then just let them be idiots.
