What class of fans

A friend told me chelsea when it started was for the upper class? I don't know if he s wrong.
But what kind of fans did arsenal get at the beginning.

Well Arsenal (Woolwich Arsenal) was started by workers from a munitions factory, so I would guess working class....

working class through and through.
all the areas around highbury are were working class areas, much of the old school arsenal following were local, working class, estate lads. or even working class lads from the surrounding boroughs and towns like borehamwood, radlett, potters bar (my area), barnet etc.

these days its mainly rich toffs from the suburbs with very few 'working class' affording it these days, same goes for most clubs, the clubs have always wanted to push them out anyway.
As mentioned even the people who started the club were working class factory workers.

They had me for enough years. I'd hardly call myself anything other than working class. Then seats came along.

Once wroking class always working class.
The whole idea of football teams was for working class peeps.
The toffs had their cricket whilst the middle class had rugby.

Did anyone see that Prescott programmme about class when he asked some chave girls what class they thought they were and they replied "Middle Class cos i dont work init"
