Width was never an issue in the 4-4-2 though, even with Rosicky and Hleb who weren't natural wingers, because the width came from the fullbacks. Rosicky would cut in only for Gibbs (someone who could easily be a winger) to overlap.

Chamberlain is the first wide player we've had since Freddy & Pires who is fit to lace their boots. He does exactly the same thing cutting inside to make things happen

Indeed he has pace, a few tricks, vision, scoring ability and more strength than most wide players.
