Does the federal government not give any of it's trillion dollar printing policy to the governement? or does it all go on debt management?

You don't even want to get me started on monetary policy and how f*cked beyond belief that is...

Long story short, our government gave the power to issue currency to a privately held bank in direct violation of the constitution. The Federal Reserve has as much to do with the federal government as my left testicle. Our government doesn't even print money.

Watch Inside Job, that will sum it up fairly well and give you a lesson on the financial collapse and how we've done FA to fix anything and prevent it from happening again.

Private, not public, what is their motivation? How do they measure their success? Do they aim for profit like every other bank, who is the money and gold for if not the government?

I will watch inside job, this will be the third documentary in the last 7 days about the US financial crisis. I have watched two 1hr to 90 minute presentations by specialist financial firms in the US about how the US economy/dollar will go and I am struggling to believe it could happen, it seems too unreal.

We'd all like to know the answers to those questions Rev, but the Federal Reserve is accountable to nobody...

It really does boggle the mind.

I hate saying it, because I know how whack-o it sounds... but our world economy really is controlled by the privileged few.

The problem is, just like the crisis as in Japan is being covered up because of the world market, if America's economy really does crash the world market crashes.

That is stupid beyond belief. It is so ridiculous that I cannot believe it is just the government on their own, I reckon there must have been some lobbying and "nudge nudge wink wink" politics by "blackberry" to convince them to invest in blackberrys for such a scheme.

Blackberry likely had a hand in it, but the problem is special interest groups are hugely powerful in America. Their backing can literally make or break a political career, or even an election. Most people here don't know and don't care unless it's something that really effects them, but both sides are given millions upon millions by special interest groups to further their agendas. Whats even funnier is that both sides accuse each other of accepting dirty money.

Holy cow, I have just watched the intro to "inside job", just when they are talking about Iceland and if I was an Icelandic citizen I would want those bankers to face extended periods of excrutiating pain. They basically set their country back decades to have a billion dollar lifestyle. The biggest kick in the teeth is after the country has suffered and looks to hold the banks accountable they use their money to finance all the best lawyers to defend themselves. Properly sick and I have only got to the opening credits.

Should any of us be shocked? The power men have always raped the joe soaps to pay for their lifestyles, its just in the past the info didn't get out. In this day and age things leak out, or are hacked etc and the people actually find out how much they are being effed. It never seems to do any good though. Money men protect each other and others are left to foot the bill.

Sadly the truth doesn't make a whole lot of difference Leody, the banking scandals in America, Ireland, Iceland, Portugal, Greece etc etc etc etc, no one has actually been taken to task. The governments in all those countries bailed out said banks, then the economies went in the shit and other nations had to bail them out. In the case of Ireland, Portugal and Greece people have finally said go eff yourselves. Power money men from even enemy nations have more in common with each other than they have with those of their own country.

Back in the day the people involved would have been killed, I am NOT saying in the 21st century that should happen............then again I am not saying it shouldn't.

We are as a people allowing the government to take our freedoms every day... but it probably isn't really as bad as I think, just the last decade it's has been at a nearly unprecedented pace. And at least we're starting from a much higher level of freedoms than most.

I just cringe every time I hear a story of a tragedy or weird situation and the first inclination most people have is "there should be a law for that"... It's all too common nowadays.

Government isn't the solution to life's problems, all too often it's the cause.

thats some bright words there..
